    Imperial Japanese Backpack Tornister Fur, Leather wood WW2 Taisho Era
    Condition
    This has to be the coolest, weirdest military backpack I have ever seen or owned.  I believe that the date reads Taisho 9 which correlates to 1920.  I believe that the ink writing inside is the soldier's name.  This pack looks to be in excellent condition for its age.  It appears to be missing the shoulder straps as well as the strap that went over the flap for closure.  It is missing at least 1 buckle on the bottom.  The fur is mostly there (see pics) and the wood internal frame is solid and sturdy still.  The hide and leather is still supple and I don't see evidence of drying or cracking.  The internal flaps are a bit stiff.  There are holes where the straps used to be sewn.  The canvas on the inside is great also and does not appear to be dry rotted (though I am not tugging too hard).  If anyone would want to share some more info about this pack or a translation of all the writing and stamps, I would be forever grateful as I love to learn and this is a super cool item.  When was the last time you saw one of these?  When is the next time you think you will see one?
