Hand carved rooster from Bali

Description

This handsome rooster is hand carved from wood. It is approx 20 " high x 9.5"wide x  4.75" deep. It is hand painted with a crackled acrylic paint.  The tail is covered with a batik fabric that is decoupaged on top of the wood.
It has been created by artisans in the area of Ubud where many cottage industries carve  in wood and create carvings from animals that exist in their own villages. Chickens and roosters roam  their villages . Roosters are a favorite theme in their carvings and paintings.
The batik material that is decoupaged on top of the wood tail is a traditional design of batik and done by a wax resist method. It is a tedious process of dying fabric and Indonesia is well known for their batik . This piece offers both examples of their expertise in the arts, wood carving combined with batik dyed material.
We pack our items with care and adequate packing. It is insured for damage in shipping but since we are offering this at a reduced price we  cannot offer returns.
